Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Gules, a chevron Or between three fountains.  Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Gold scroll inscribed WE CAN HANDLE IT in Red letters.

Symbolism
Scarlet and buff (gold) are the colors used for Support organizations.  The Battalions participation in three major warsWorld War II, Korea and Vietnamare symbolized by the three heraldic fountains.  The chevron represents support and alludes to the basic mission of the organization.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 30 June 1975.

From a wreath Or and Gules, an ear of wheat Proper in front of a mullet per pale Gules and Azure surmounting overall a stylized wreath of rice of the first.

The ear of wheat in the crest commemorates the distinguished service of the organization as a Quartermaster Bakery Battalion during World War II.  The colors, red and blue, represent Korea and the wreath of rice alludes to Vietnam.  The five points of the star refer to the five decorations awarded the organization.

The coat of arms was approved on 18 March 1975.
